Spring Break

Ok. Phew. The blurb book is DONE. Minus some last minute scanning that my great friend is going to help me with since my scanner is giving me nothing but trouble. I was frustrated to tears last night when I was trying to scan some of my pictures in, the stupid scanner was making them all little for some reason, and when I called my darling into help, he tried, and tried, and then does what he always does...."We just need a new scanner!! This one is retarded!" No, no honey, when are we going to quit blaming the gadgets and start blaming the retards trying to work them? Its a perfectly normal HP scanner.A {milder} Mr. Scrunchy Face

Ok, so Spring Break. Yes, that seems so very long ago! We had a grand first week and then as you all know, the second week took a major dive. Following Kosty's pneumonia bout, as a result of the lack of sleep he was getting, he quickly turned into a raging lunatic. I mean it, it was really, really rough. Screamed & threw fits all day and night. Not to mention the hole in the wall, the ripped books, and him trying to throw himself out of my car while driving. And he made this strange face for 5 days straight, one eye closed and lips to the side all scrunched up, just like you would do when you are impersonating a pirate saying, "ARRRR!" Then it turned into just an all over scrunched face & lips. I really didn't know if I was going to make it out of that one alive, or better yet, if he was. Putting him to bed early & letting him take long naps seemed to catch him up. All is normal again, thank the glorious heavens above. I mean Kosty is a big challenge normally, but now I'm thinking this is a piece of cake compared to what was.

We spent a few days at the park & fed the ducks....Here is Brayden practicing his new "cure" for hiccups that he read in a magazine..Rub behind your ears. Kosty's hiccups went right away! We played with friends...had tea/brownie parties...

the same day we were at the mall, happened to be the grand re-opening of the dollar theatre. They gave us free tickets to see Bolt, and free popcorn, drinks, & candy. oh, and then came that pesky pneumonia thing, I ended up taking him to Urgent Care on Jer's birthday. Luckily Jer's family came to the rescue. They brought pizza & baked a cake just in time for our arrival! every once in a while, my camera does this really strange thing to Kosty's lips, it looks like he is wearing black lipstick, so strange. Its like when there is a dark background or something.Like mother, like son. I was reading a magazine on the couch & Kosty ran to get a stack of books and sit with me. Speaking of genetics...BUSTED! check out those spandex! my mom is the queen of spandex around the house. Looks like the apple didn't fall too far from the tree.

I'm refusing to blog until I finish my 08 blurb book. Dangit. I am almost done! I want to blog Spring Break. Self Discipline Chelsea!

"wike Bubba"

Aww, today I witnessed something so special, so sweet, so heartbreaking, I couldn't wait to come jot it down. I wish I had it on video, but this is the next best thing. Brayden came home from a friends house and Kosty and I were outside waiting for him on the porch. As soon as Brayden came up, Kosty stood up on the bench and looked over at him. He looked for a minute, and then he pointed at him and said, "I wis I was big jus wike Bubba." All at once, my world stopped, and I couldn't take my eyes off of him as he stared over at his brother. He had such a longing in his eyes. Then he held a piece of his hair in his hand and said, "I wis my haiw wooked wike Bubba's. I wis my haiw was brown."

and my heart broke.

Here I am thinking all this time that it is Kosty's ultimate goal in life to be completely the opposite of his brother. I mean, after all, that is the way he makes it appear. It wasn't until that very exact moment, watching him looking at his brother the way he did, that I realized how much he really does love and look up to his big brother. And he wants to be just like him.

Then later on this evening, Kosty was listening to Brayden crack a few jokes in the car, and he said, "Mommy, how do I make a funny fing jus wike Bubba doos?" Aw, it just broke my heart again. He notices his brother's witty, confident, and outgoing personality, and he wants to know how he can be the same. If only he could truly know that his completely unique personality and appearance fills our lives with joy! I wouldn't change one single thing about this little boy! I just wish he knew how special he really is to be the one and only original KOSTY! and how much I wouldn't want him any other way! Kosty, you are loved more than I could ever, ever express. We love you just the way you are.

big boy bed

This post is about a month or two late, but anyway, we finally transitioned our big boy into a big boy bed! Or should I say "I" did it, its amazing how much you learn to do when your husband works 15 hour days. I have become quite impressed with my handyman skills. Transitioning the crib into toddler bed mode wasn't as easy as I thought, but I sure surprised my husband when he got home. Kosty stuck with me the whole time and loved sticking his play tools in every nook and cranny. After about 3 rough nights of him getting out, he finally settled into his new bed.

he did it!!

Kosty finally pooped on the potty! After hmmm, about 3 weeks of avoiding it at all costs. I am so happy! No more trying to save underwear, or stressing about throwing them away! Of course he did it his own way, we were all out front when he did it, he didn't tell anyone, and he even had about 300 wipes all over the ground because he wanted to do it all himself! We made good on our promise and took him to Target to pick out "whatever he wanted"...which was a Batman Imaginex house. It's huge, like a new piece of furniture. Oh well, he did it!
