california. day 1.

Ah. Sweet California. We quickly checked into our hotel, ate, and headed straight for the beach. Aunt Cede and Uncle Mark joined us. The boys rode their scooters around the boardwalk and we had to stop at Jane's for ice cream and there was no way Kosty was leavin without a fresh donut. We enjoyed free giant bubble blowing entertainment at the pier and soaked in that ocean breeze, so happy to be there. We kept telling the kids that "tomorrow" we would be our first beach day. But as we were leaving, they ran straight to the ocean and I wasn't going to stop them. That first ocean encounter is always the best one. I told them to just get their feet wet, but of course they couldn't stop there, and pretty soon they were ripping off clothes and stripping down and getting completely soaked without a care in the world. That is, until we attempted getting into the car freezing & covered in wet sand. That part wasn't pretty. But still totally worth it.

Just look at the smiles on their faces in that last picture! Summer vacations are the best and I love how you make the most of every minute. That picture of Kosty in his soaking wet shorts with a huge smile on his face is a new fave. He is right in his element at the beach.
